Staff, pupils and parents will be joined by Darlo the Dog from Darlington Football Club, who will cut the ribbon to officially open the new outdoor area for foundation stage pupils.
The new area, which was planned by staff at the school, was funded by Darlington Council, includes play equipment, a vegetable garden, story telling circle and an outdoor stage area.
Head teacher, Peter King said: “This is the most impressive outdoor learning area for young children that I have ever come across and I’m really proud to be able to say that it is at our school.
“Our talented staff helped to draw up a plan that would really appeal to the curiosity and enthusiasm of the children, and made sure that a drab, shadowy area is now full of excitement and imagination. It will really help the children to express themselves.”
Nursery Teacher Cheryl Dennis, who inspired the project, said: “It was lovely to see the builders take so much pride in their work, and the outcome of that is a fabulous learning environment for local children for many years to come.”
