New website to help traders obtain a market stall in Darlington

05/06/08 - MARKET traders looking for available pitches in Darlington can now find a stall at the click of a mouse.

The Council’s Markets Team has signed up to www.findamarket.net to advertise its markets and vacant pitches.
Traders can go to the site, put in what they sell and when they want to work to see if there is a pitch for them in Darlington – home of the National Association of British Market Authorities Market Attraction of the Year 2008; the Summer Market Spectacular, which this year takes place from August 15 to 18.
The site also contains information about how to become a market trader, the relevant insurance they would need and details about wholesalers and manufacturers.
Peter Wilson, Markets Manager said: “This is another way of helping traders to get involved in the thriving markets here in Darlington.
“As well as the historic indoor market which is open six days a week, we have general markets on Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays, a monthly Farmers’ Market and Craft Fair, as well as events like the continental markets, the Summer Market Spectacular and festive markets at Christmas time.”
