05/06/08 - A NEW business plan for 2008-2011 has been launched setting out a vision for Darlington town centre.

The plan, which has been devised by Darlington Town Centre Board with Darlington Council’s Town Centre Team, includes an action plan detailing initiatives for the coming three years, aimed at raising the town’s profile and increasing the number of people who visit.
The action plan includes proposals for marketing the town centre through TV advertising and events like the award winning Darlington Summer Market Spectacular.
It also details major developments set to take place in the coming years, such as The Oval in Commercial Street, a new shopping and leisure complex, as well as plans for developing the Feethams area and the town centre fringe.
John Williams, Darlington Council Leader and Chairman of the Town Centre Board said: “The Business Plan sets out our vision for the future of Darlington town centre and shows what we plan to do to make the town even more successful.
“The plan is aimed at helping existing businesses to spot opportunities for growth and showing potential new businesses what we’ve got to offer. Darlington town centre is unique. We offer a great mix of markets, independent shops, as well as the big high street names.”
