Darlington Coat of Arms
The official coat of arms granted to the enlarged Borough of Darlington, on local government reorganisation, in 1974. It contains a Lion and Wyvern (a type of dragon) together with the motto Optima Petamus which translates to Let us seek the best and the crest contains Locomotion, a bull's head, St. Cuthbert's Cross, a Wheatsheaf and a wavy line which represents the River Tees. Council Logo
This logo shows a key landmark in Darlington, the Town Clock in the Market Place in the centre flanked by the chimney from the Stockton & Darlington Railway's locomotive number 1 'Locomotion' representing the town's railway and industrial heritage and a stalk of corn (wheatsheaf) which represents the agricultural nature of much of Darlington and the market town. The corporate colours are Burgundy (Printing Ink Pantone 202c and Paint RAL 3003) and Black. |

A national standard as regards dealing with people who have disabilities. This contains the 2 ticks which represents good practice and commitment to equal opportunities. |

This is a strategy which aims to provide opportunities to all Darlington citizens for learning and education to enable them to fulfil their full potential. It operates through a subgroup of the Darlington Learning Partnership with representatives from the private, voluntary and public sectors in Darlington. |
