Carers Emergency Support Service
This service will offer carers peace of mind by making sure that the person they care for can be looked after if an emergency arises.
The service is available to all carers of adults in Darlington and County Durham.
Carers who register for the service can draw up an Emergency Plan and be given a credit card sized ID card with an emergency contact number.
As part of the Emergency Plan, the carer can nominate three family members, friends or neighbours as emergency contacts, should an emergency arise. If they are not available, or there are no nominated contacts, short term support will be provided until alternative arrangements can be made by Adult Social Care.
This service for carers has been put together jointly by Darlington Borough Council and Durham County Council and will be provided by Unique Home Care.
