Message from Shau

The Benefits system is large, complex and dealt with by many different organisations, which can sometimes be confusing.

As a result, millions of pounds worth of welfare benefits and tax credits go unclaimed each year.

I help people by making them aware of, and help them to receive, the benefits they are entitled to by law.

I can help people in many ways and I hope residents do take the opportunity to get in touch if they feel they are missing out on benefits or have any other queries.

We will help sort out any changes to benefits, help challenge a decision that doesn't seem quite right, represent people at  tribunals and advise how changes in circumstances can affect benefits.

The Welfare Rights Team can advise on:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Housing and Council Tax Benefits
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Joh Seekers Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Social Fund
  • Tax Credits

Appointments, home visits and a translation service are all in a day's work for the Welfare Rights Team.
