Can I have a supported tenancy?

Qualifying Criteria

The Housing Support Scheme is open to all residents of Darlington where there are housing related support needs.  If you feel you have support needs and would benefit from additional support you can contact the Housing Support Team yourself or through another agency for example, CAB, First Stop or Social Services.

Who can apply for Support?

You should :-

• Be aged over 16 years of age.
• Live in the Darlington area.
• Have no other significant input of support.
• Have low-medium support needs.
• Be prepared to co-operate with our Housing Support Worker in order to benefit from the Scheme and become more self-sufficient over a period of time.

Unfortunately for safety we will not usually be able to support you if:

• You have high support needs. 
• You pose a current risk such as arson, violence or serious sex offences.
  

In order to give the support that is needed the number of people our Housing Support Officers can help at any one time is limited and therefore, if you are accepted onto the scheme, you may have to go onto a waiting list but you will be offered a place as quickly as possible.
