Help and Guidance

If you are moving to a new home - or you are not coping well on your own, the Housing Support Team may be able to offer you help and guidance.

They can help you to:

  • Develop your independence 
  • Cope with everyday problems 
  • Building social networks 
  • Access other services 
  • Maintain good relationships with your neighbours 
  • Access groups or services for your faith, religious beliefs or cultural needs 
  • Manage your households finances

What is Housing Related Support?

Housing Related Support Services cover services, which help people who may be vulnerable to live independently.  They do not include personal care services, for example help with washing or dressing.

We can assist you with:

  • the security of your home 
  • your personal safety in your home 
  • managing your money 
  • claiming benefits 
  • learning domestic and/or social skills 
  • advice on home improvements 
  • dealing with other people such as landlords, other tenants and professionals 
  • support  during any neighbour disputes 
  • Moving to more independent accommodation.

What the Housing Support Team do not do

We do not help you with:

  • Personal care 
  • Action to promote rehabilitation 
  • Assistance with physical or social needs 
  • Counselling 
  • Housing management services where the landlord or someone acting on behalf of the landlord is carrying out a normal landlord function
