Privately Rented Properties
If you are a tenant of a housing association, the calculation of your benefit will be based on the amount of rent you are charged, less any services such as fuel, water rates and cleaning.
If you are a tenant of a private landlord, the calculation of your benefit will be based on your
Local Housing Allowance rate. If the amount of Housing or Council Tax Benefit you receive is less than the amount you have to pay, you may be able to get a Discretionary Housing Payment.
