Supporting People is a national programme launched by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) in April 2002.
It provides Housing Related Support that was previously funded by Housing Benefits, the Probation Service and the Housing Corporation.
The Supporting People Team work in partnership with Social Services, Health, Probation Services, Support providers, (both national and local), and service users to promote housing related support services which are both cost effective, robustly funded and planned using a co-ordinated approach.
The work of the Supporting people Team links directly with the goals of Darlington's Community Strategy ,in particular 'A place for living safely and well', and the Council's Corporate Objectives of:
