Garden Tidy Scheme

The Council's Garden Tidy Scheme is available to tenants who are unable to maintain their own gardens.

The Garden Tidy Scheme is free and provides basic gardening duties for those eligible, such as pensioners and people in receipt of the higher rate of Disabled Living Allowance (DLA), and who do not have anyone under 60 or able-bodied living with them.

Eligible tenants can have their lawns cut six times and hedges pruned twice each year.

If you think you meet the criteria and wish to be considered for the Garden Tidy Scheme, please contact your Management Officer on 01325 388542.

Ground Maintenance

The Council undertakes routine cutting of grass in open space areas, together with tree and hedge pruning and shrub and rose bed maintenance.

Grass areas which are the responsibility of the council are cut on a rota system.  Continued bad weather can delay cutting and extended dry weather may make cutting unnecessary.

Garden Waste Collection

If you have tidied your garden and are unable to take the garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, we collect garden waste as part of the bulky waste collection service.
