Paying by Direct Debit

If your rent account is up to date you can complete a Direct debit form [pdf document] and return it to us.

You must continue to pay your rent by your usual payment method up until we let you know the Direct Debit has been set up.

When Will the Rent Come Out of My Account?

Housing rent direct debits can be taken on the 1st or the 15th of each month.  The money will be taken from your bank account on that date (or the closest working day if the 1st or 15th is a Saturday or Sunday)

When you set up a direct debit you will get a letter at least 10 working days before the collection date confirming the amount that will be taken from your account.  We will also inform you in advance if your rent goes up.

Can I Cancel the Direct Debit?

You can cancel your direct debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of the letter to: Adult Services and Housing, Town Hall, Darlington, DL1 5QT
