Can Someone Else Pay on My Behalf?

No problem - providing you entrust them with your card and let them know how much to pay.

When Will my Payment Reach my Account?

Your account will be updated overnight.  However payments made on a Friday will not show on your account until the Monday of the new rent week.

How Will I Know What My Balance Is?

The Post Office cannot supply you with a balance on your account.  The Council will supply a statement of your rent on quarterly basis detailing the payment you have made and the current balance.  In addition you can request this information from your local housing office at any time.

Housing Benefit

If you have applied for or are in receipt of Housing Benefit.  Your new tenancy starts from a Monday and rent is due from this day, however Housing Benefit will only be paid from the date you move in.

For Example:

"your Tenancy starts on a Monday, but you choose not to move into your new home until the Friday, you will only qualify for 3 days Benefit, and you will have to pay full rent for the other four days".

If you wish to discuss this further please contact your local housing office or telephone Housing Benefits on 01325 388514.
