Help Scheme Digital

Ready, Get Set, Go Digital

If you are still watching analogue tv (5 channels or fewer) you will need to convert them to digital as the analogue signal is being turned off by September 2012 but don't worry the upgrade is very easy.  You can use a freeview box, a digital satellite service or digital cable.

For older and disabled viewers who may find making the switch difficult, the BBC Switchover Help Scheme is at hand to provide everything you need.  A fee of £40 is required if you use this service but if you are on income-related benefits its free. If you are 75 or over or eligible disabled, the Help Scheme will write to you directly and in plenty of time to ask if you want help.

If you have any questions about the switchover you can call Digital UK on 08456 505050 or visit their website [external website].  For further information on the Switchover Help Scheme visit their website [external website] or call them on 0800 40859000, textphone 0800 4085936.

Solar Panels at Sadberge

The Sadberge Climate Change Working Group has set up a Renewable Energy Project which has to date benefitted 12 properties, 7 of them council, to install solar panels.  Not only will this reduce their heating bills but they can sell their excess electricity back to the national grid to earn money.  By working together, they set up a community based company to use funds provided by the residents to install solar systems.

Council's Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: "I am delighted that the people of Sadberge are working together in such an innovative way to help the environment and that council tenants living in the area have been able to benefit from the scheme".
