• Hanover Housing Association in partnership with Darlington Borough Council's Housing and Social Services Department have designed the Easthaven Scheme, a £3.2 million scheme with 24 hour care and support.
• Mayflower Court, Yarm Road has been designed with the foresight, imagination and care to ensure that older people have access to appropriate, cost-effective housing which maximises their dignity and independence, providing the opportunity to live life to the full. 
• Mayflower Court suits the needs of people as they grow older or who have disabilities.
• There are 44 self-contained extra care apartments.
• Each apartment has a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and a bathroom with level-entry shower, full central heating and community alarm link.

Scheme facilities include:

• Shop
• Health and Beauty Treatment Room
• Guest Room for family and friends
• Landscaped gardens

• Hanover provide professional support during working hours through Estate Managers who look after the property and are responsible for ensuring that residents are assisted in obtaining the care and support they require from the relevant specialised agencies.  
• A community alarm also provides 24 hour cover.
• Extra care housing for rent offers an attractive cost-effective alternative to traditional residential care. 
• It is particularly relevant to residents in their eighties or older who require more specialised amenities and greater support than is usually available in retirement accommodation. 
• The result of thoughtful design, extra care housing incorporates many special features such as easy access for people with disabilities or in wheelchairs, textured flooring and talking lifts to help residents find their way about, and restaurant facilities to ensure access to at least one hot meal a day.
• Office space is also provided for a 24-hour care team which is organised in conjunction with the Social Services Department.  As a result, each resident can receive an appropriate level of care and support - if and when they need it.  Extracare can also provide an ideal base for intermediate care provision.

• You can download a housing application form together with a supplementary Housing Application form complete and return these to the Town Hall, Darlington. 
• We have a 50% nomination right to all Housing Association empty properties.
