Have you got the Bottle?

A simple way to save your life.
What is Message in a Bottle?
Message in a Bottle is a simple life saving scheme which is low in cost.
The 'bottle', kept in the fridge, contains a message telling the emergency services everything they need to know to administer the most appropriate method of help.
If an emergency occurs in your home the emergency services will look in the fridge for a bottle, and will quickly and easily be able to find out essential information such as next of kin, medication and any special needs.
This scheme is aimed especially at elderly and vulnerable adults but can be used by anyone.
Getting the Message
Message in a bottle operates successfully in many areas of the UK and some overseas countries and was successfully launched in Darlington during April 2005.
Over 17,000 bottles will be distributed throughout the first year of the schemes introduction.
Getting the message across is essential, the more people who know about the service, the more the service will be effective.
Message in a bottle has been launched in Darlington by a partnership of organisations including GOLD, Age Concern Darlington, Soroptimists International of Darlington and District, Darlington Borough Council Warden Services and Social Service Department, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, Darlington Police, the North East Ambulance Trust and Darlington Primary Care Trust.
