Creative Darlington

Creative Darlington was created in 2011 with the aim of looking at the development of arts in the borough and encouraging more people to discover their creative side.

Creative Darlington also had the task of finding new
ways of working and developing arts finance from
new sources.

Creative Darlington has supported local and national events such as Darlington Arts Festival and the Festival of Thrift as well as local arts organisations/artists, helping them to secure sponsorship and funding.

Creative Darlington is also responsible for Crown Street Art Gallery and works closely with The Bridge [external link], a community arts venue.

Developing finance for arts activities in 2013/14

Creative Darlington has allocated a budget in 2013/14 to encourage individuals and arts organisations to develop arts activity and to secure additional finance for the arts in Darlington. Our budget is focused on arts activity within Darlington borough and the professional development of individuals (artists, curators, producers) or arts organisations resident within Darlington borough. We expect successful applications to secure significant additional finance from other sources including sponsorship, fundraising, philanthropy, earned income or a combination of these. You don’t need to have already confirmed other finance before applying but confirmation you have secured additional finance will be a condition of any support from Creative Darlington. The attached application form contains further guidance.
