Cultural Services would like to share with our customers some of the positive things that we have achieved that will benefit our customers.
Christmas Programme
The Dolphin Centre has ran an amazing Christmas Party Programme once again. The four sell out nights were a huge success with more than 1,700 customers attending giving great feedback on the food and acts
Four Star Award for Outstanding Team
The staff at Head of Steam received a Four Star award from Darlington Borough Council in the category of Outstanding Team for Disaster Management. This was awarded for the way the team pulled together to manage a flood situation that could have been disastrous.
Council Employee of the Year
Marion Ogle, Events Manager was awarded Council Employee of the Year for the outstanding work she does with the community assisting with putting events on in the town.
New Look Under the Sea featuring Pirate Island
In 2011 a major refurbishment of our soft play facility took place. The result is amazing, customers have been more then complimentary on the new look area, which has improved catering facilities, improved toddler facilities, amazing challenges, a new pirate island area on the first floor and bigger party rooms.
Eastbourne Development Plan
A development plan was launched in 2011, which has greatly increased participation on the Eastbourne site. New clubs and partners are now using the facility and casual users are enjoying the offers available to them. The Club Support package has encouraged clubs to take advantage of the great service and support available to them at Eastbourne Sports Complex.
Green Keeper Award
Doug Avey, Assistant Head Greenkeeper from Stressholme Golf Club, Darlington, is celebrating after being presented with the Sports Turf Award for work-based learners, at the Houghall Award ceremony, part of East Durham College.
Doug completed two qualifications, Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Work based Horticulture (Greens Option) with the College to a high standard always ahead of time, and in a professional manner. He was also praised for his willingness to go the extra mile and help other people by offering ideas including leads to useful websites.
The Internal & External Verifiers were extremely impressed by the high standard of his work.
