Carl Rosati
Darlington Arts have worked with urban illustrator Carl Rosati from The Cloud Commission to create an exciting mural for the Glass Corridor Gallery. Carl held a number of consultation sessions with children, young people and their families to find out what activities they enjoyed doing in their spare time, including taking part in the arts at Darlington Arts Centre and what buildings, stories and places represented Darlington for them. These sessions created lots of ideas, which were used as inspiration for the design of the mural resulting in a contemporary and vibrant artwork.

The artwork itself begins with a child playing on his computer thinking about other activities that he enjoys and could be taking part in. It continues along the corridor to include a folk dancer, karate figure, a dancer, and much more. Other panels include paint ballers, featured in front of Darlington’s brick Train by David Mach, the renowned Durham Ox and the Town Crier standing on Bulmer’s Stone.
Young people were invited to the Arts Centre to help the artist paint the mural over a two week period.
