SHERWOODS VAUXHALL DARLINGTON 10KM
2013 will be the 26th year for Darlington’s 10km road race. The annual race, which this year will be held on Sunday 11th August 2013, has gone from strength to strength over the years. We are delighted to again announce Sherwoods as our headline sponsor for the eleventh year, who are again working in partnership with Vauxhall. The Northern Echo, TFM Radio and Mizuno are all supporting the 10km again this year and we are extremely pleased to welcome Teesside University who are our water station sponsor for 2013.
The course is unchanged from last year and the course records set in 2008 by Aly Dixon and 2011 by Yared Hagos, still stand.
For this year’s race all 10km entrants will again receive personalised chip timing, which mean times will be recorded for each person when they cross the start and finish lines rather than from when the starting pistol sounds. We also have a SMS text results service, which means we can supply everyone, who provides us with a mobile telephone number, with their race time and finishing position. Photo Inspiration [external link] will be official race photographers for this year and race participants will be able to view and purchase photo prints and digital images, in The Market Square, soon after the race.
Once again there will be no junior 3km this year but there is again a prize section within the 10km, for young athletes aged 15 to 17. The 10km will as always be supported by our popular Family Fun Run, which is effectively open to all.
