Easter Activities - Easter Sunday, 8th April, 11am until 3pm.
Easter themed arts and craft activities for all the family in the Northern Rail Activity Room. Just drop in! Normal museum entrance fee applies.
Vintage Vehicle Rally – Sunday 20th May 2012, 11am until 3pm.
A variety of rare and unusual vintage vehicles from across the North East and Yorkshire regions gather together again for this popular event. Categories include cars, military vehicles, vans and motorcycles. Entertainment includes mini train ride, fairground rides, and children’s entertainer. £1 entrance fee for all customers to museum and Vintage Vehicle Rally. Membership holders and children under 6 go FREE.
Kidzone Spring/ Summer Arts and Crafts - Every Tues, Thurs and Fri 1-3pm from April to end Sept in School Holidays.

Summer Fun Day - week one - Wednesday 25th July 2012, 1pm until 4pm.
Library Learning and Arts and Crafts Day! Come along to our children’s activity room and meet Deefor Dragon! Listen to our storyteller and have your face painted. Drawing and colouring activities also available. Wednesday 25th July 2012,

Summer Fun Day - week two - Sunday 26th August 2012, 10am until 4pm.
Discover the wildlife in your own back garden. Make a habitat box or bird feeder to attract wildlife and find out which animals live around us! Fun based activities with the Durham Wildlife Trust team. Normal museum entrance fee applies.
Darlington Model Railway Club weekend - Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2012, 10am until 4pm.
Darlington Model Railway Club has been in existence since 1971. To celebrate their long connections with Head of Steam Museum, the club will exhibit their working layouts for this very special weekend. Also watch demonstrations, buy from traders and, if you wish, tour the club rooms located on the museum site. Come along and enjoy the atmosphere of the golden days of Steam and Diesel – In Miniature! Concessionary rate for all visitors over the weekend.
Heritage Open Days - Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September, 10am until 4pm
Come along and enjoy free access to the Head of Steam Museum as we participate in the national Heritage Open Days! Not only enjoy free access to the museum, but also free guided tours and a chance to meet some of the museum’s partners including the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, Darlington Model Railway Group, North Eastern Railway Association, North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group, Darlington Railway Preservation Society and the Friends of Darlington Railway Centre and Museum. Free entry on both days!
Little BOO! Spooky Fun Day - Sunday 28th October 2012, 11am until 3.30pm.
Come along to our specially decorated spooky museum in your favourite Halloween Costume. Encounter owls and creepy crawlies! There will also be a magician, arts and crafts, a treasure hunt and a Storytelling to entertain the little ones! Normal museum entrance fee applies.
