Sports Development
The role of the Sports Development Team is to help as many people in Darlington take part in more sport and physical activity.

We achieve this by:
- Providing lots of varied activities to take part - both at mainstream sports facilities like the Dolphin Centre, and also in local community venues like church halls and schools.
Helping local clubs and organisations to provide sessions and opportunities to be more active.
- Working with other organisations and partners, such as the National Health Service, schools and community groups, to provide opportunities to be active that appeal to specific groups of people – for example young people, new parents or those requiring exercise on prescription from a GP or health professional.
- Supporting local people to become coaches, volunteers and leaders in sport and physical activity so that there are more people to lead high quality community sessions.
- Providing a ‘signposting’ service for individuals and organisations who want to find out more about what is available in Darlington.
- Securing funding to run projects and activities to ensure that low-cost sport and physical activity opportunities are available.
