The course offers a challenging and varied landscape with the river Skerne looping through the course and encouraging extra skill at the second, third and fourth hole. The second is a difficult 452 yard, par 4 downhill, with a green just nestling in the rivers loop. The third is a short uphill dog leg, par 4, with the river running all the way along its length. At the fourth, a short, but tricky 99 yard hole, tests the nerves, as the tee shot must carry the bend of the river.
The twelfth hole requires a good drive through a narrow and well bunkered part of the course, combines the well matured landscape with some tricky bunkers, whilst the finish is then quite daunting with the final five holes all over 400 yards, including a par 5 16th hole.
