Durham Tees-Valley International Aiport (Teesside Airport)

Provides scheduled flights to London Heathrow, Belfast, Geneva, Malaga, Aberdeen, Amsterdam and Dublin, as well as charter flights to Europe.

 

The airport can be reached by car and both on-airport parking and pre-bookable parking are available. Alternatively the airport can be reached by bus (services 74 and 76) or by a shuttle bus from Darlington Bank Top railway station, which is free to air travellers.

Run by Three Rivers Housing Group's Care and Repair Darlington Agency, this is an affordable home repair and adaptation service for Darlington residents who are over 60 or disabled.

Other vulnerable residents who can show that they are unable to do jobs themselves and have no one else to help, may also access this service.

Residents' Parking Scheme

In some areas of the town, local residents pay a fee that entitles them to use resident parking spaces near their properties. Only persons with a permit may park in these areas.

If you live within an area covered by the scheme, you can apply for a permit, although there will be a charge for the permit to cover administration costs. 

Discretionary permits may be issued to bona fide carers of elderly and/or indisposed residents.

Sheltered Housing

Sheltered Housing allows older people to live independently within their own home. The Council has 27 schemes providing 834 units of sheltered accommodation in different locations throughout the town and rural areas. All have a dedicated Warden, many of whom are residential. A wide variety of social activities also takes place in these schemes.

Darlington’s mainline railway station at Bank Top is on the east coast main line.  Local train services stop at both Bank Top and North Road stations in Darlington and Dinsdale in Middleton St. George.
