Registering a BirthA birth has to be registered within 42 days from the date of birth, normally in the district where the birth occurred. Where the baby's parents are married to each other, either or both parents may register. Where the baby's parents are not married, the baby's mother must be present and if the father wants his details entered, he must attend also. By doing this, the baby's father will be automatically granted parental responsibility.
