Accreditations, Code of Practice, and Standards
Accreditations
The control centre holds the following accreditations and awards:
- BS EN ISO 9001:2008 for its CCTV service.
- NSI SSQS 102
- BS5979:2007
- CCTV User Groups Gold Standard for the CCTV Service.
- BS EN ISO 9001:2008 for intruder alarm monitoring.
- Customer Service Excellence Award.
Code of Practice
In addition to the Information Commissioners Office’s [external link] Code of Practice, the Council also produced its own Code of Practice [PDF document] so as to give the public more information on how it operates its CCTV system.
Standards
All staff employed to work in the control room have:
- An advanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) vetting check carried out on them.
- A Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence [external link] which allows them to operate the CCTV cameras for third parties under contract.
There are other standards that the control room need to adhere to such as the Human Rights Act. Details of these will be found in the Codes of Practice mentioned above.
