Business Continuity

Flooded buildings Flooding inside a building Flooding across fields

What is it?

At its simplest, business continuity is about staying in business no matter what!

It means staying in business when something unexpected such as a flood or a fire comes along by having some very simple arrangements in place to get through the crisis.

What sort of things does it cover?

Business Continuity Planning means catering for the obvious things.  If your business depends on IT or access to telecommunications, what are you going to do if either or both are interrupted?  If your business is heavily dependent on key staff, what are you going to do if you loose them?

What if I do not have lots of time for planning?

There is a misperception that business continuity planning is very expensive and time consuming.  This is not the case.

A simple Business Continuity Plan for a small to medium sized business might only be 6 or 7 pages long as long as it covers some of the key information.
