We have over 51,000 taxpayers and we try continually to improve our services with the aim of providing the best service possible. We regularly compare our performance with other councils to ensure our standards are high. Some of our principle aims are:
- To maintain a continual improvement in our in-year collection rate. In 2006/07 we collected 96.6% - this year our target is 97.1%.
- To process all changes of circumstances, discounts, exemptions, etc. by the end of the next working day (providing information is complete).
- To answer letters by the end of the next working day.
- To respond to e-mails on the day of receipt (next working day if received after 4.00pm).
- To issue refunds within 10 days of being requested.
If you feel the service you receive does not meet these standards please let us know - we welcome constructive comment. The Council has a complaints procedure for when things go wrong or are unsatisfactory and this guarantees a written response within five working days.
