When is this required?
The Demolition Notification form should be used as a means of notifying the Local Authority of a proposed demolition and providing details of how the work is to be carried out.
Paper Form
The form can be downloaded here, printed out and filled in by hand. Copies can also be obtained from our office.
A plan or drawings needs to be supplied, showing the location of the building in relation to its surroundings and to other buildings. The part(s) to be demolished should be clearly marked. Site boundaries should be indicated where appropriate.
Please send the completed form (plus plans and other attachments) to Corporate Services, Town Hall, Darlington, DL1 5QT. If you prefer, you can hand it in at the Customer Service Centre in the Town Hall.

Please note that, in order to make use of this facility, you will need to have the means of providing the appropriate plans and drawings in a suitable electronic format (e.g. PDF/JPG/GIF).
Points to Note
- This service is free of charge.
- All measurements need to be given in metric units.
- This form should not be confused with the Demolition Determination form, which is likely to be required also. See Planning Forms.
- Planning Permission or other planning-related consents may be required before the building can legally be demolished.
