Internal Alterations

Conditions

In most cases, it is not necessary to apply for planning permission to carry out internal alterations.  This assumes that the basic nature of the property and the way it is used will not change.  Planning Permission is likely to be required if at least one of the following situations applies:

  • A single property is being divided up into two or more properties (or into flats or bedsits).

  • A property that has previously been divided up is now being re-combined into one.

  • The property is a Listed Building.

  • The property, or part of it, is intended to be used for a different purpose after the alterations.

  • The internal alterations are to be carried in conjunction with other alterations that would require permission.
