Current Consultations
The consultation on the Core Strategy: Preferred Options is running from Thursday 23rd October to Friday 5th December.
The Council wants your views on the way Darlington will develop and grow over the next 15 years. A draft plan has been drawn up, showing where, when and how all developments, including the use of land and the provision of shops and services will happen in the future.

Development Plan
The Development Plan webpage provides an overview of the main documents that are, or will be, used to guide development in Darlington.
Local Development Framework
The current Local Development Scheme, which summarises the purpose and scope of the new-style planning documents and the timetable for their preparation, is available on the Local Development Framework webpage. Work has commenced to update the LDS, which will be published in early 2009.
Other Planning Policy Documents
Other planning policy documents include the Open Spaces Strategy, adopted March 2007, planning guidance notes for the site at 8 St Cuthbert's Way, Darlington, and Planning and Development Briefs for the former Albert Hill Nursery site and the former Sadberge, Harrowgate Hill, Beaumont Hill and Springfield school sites.

Recent Consultations
The consultation for the Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents: Preferred Options ended on 9th April 2008. The responses are being considered and a summary will be published in the near future.
Partners and Stakeholders were consulted on the SHLAA Methodology and were also invited to put forward sites to be considered that have the potential to deliver housing over the next 15 years. Future Consultations
Consultation on the draft Design of New Development Supplementary Planning Document is currently planned to take place from January 2009.
