Planning Duty Officer

The Service Offered

If you require expert advice on planning matters, a planning officer will be on duty each day for the specific purpose of dealing with your queries.  The "duty officer" is available Mon-Fri between 8:45am and 1:00pm and is based in a dedicated meeting room in the Customer Service Centre and can be contacted on 01325 388361.

If you wish, you may visit the Town Hall to see the duty officer without making an appointment.  Please be aware that, depending on the number of callers at the time, you may have to wait in a queue.

The duty officer will endeavour to find the appropriate information or advice that you require and to ensure that your visit has been worthwhile.  If he/she is unable to deal with your enquiry personally, the details will be passed on to another officer who will contact you later.

Points to Note

  • The duty officer is not necessarily the first point of contact for all planning matters.  See Who to Contact.

  • If you wish to meet with a specific officer, rather than the current duty officer, you will need to make an appointment.

  • For legal reasons, officers cannot fill in your planning application forms for you.

  • The duty officer can only help you with planning matters.  Please note that this excludes property searches and boundary disputes.
