Congratulatory messages and commemorative marriage certificates

As part of your family celebrations, you may wish to send/receive a congratulatory message from the Queen. These celebratory messages are not sent automatically and you will need to apply within sufficient time prior to celebration in order to receive the message.

Appropriate Occasions

The Queen can send a congratulatory message for the following Wedding Anniversaries and Birthdays:

Wedding Anniversaries

60 years (Diamond Anniversary)
65 years
70 years (Platinum Anniversary)
each year over 70 years.

Birthdays:

100 years
105 years
each year over 105 years.

How to Apply

Congratulatory messages are normally only available to “Citizens of the Realm” or UK Overseas Territories. Full details of countries within these categories

A birth or marriage certificate is usually required as evidence of the celebration. Should you require a copy of a birth certificate, please contact the Registration District where the Birth or Marriage took place.

Commemorative Marriage Certificates.

These are available for Silver (25 years), Ruby (40 years), Gold (50 years) and Diamond (60 years) Wedding Anniversaries from the General Register Office.
