CDRP Activity

The CDRP is working with schools to develop a full education package, by providing information about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse the Partnership hope to reduce the number of young people who misuse them.

The substance misuse action plan contains a number of actions to reduce the number of people who start taking drugs. The action plan also outlines how the Partnership intends to reduce the number of chaotic drug users in the area. Using a variety of interventions, both court ordered and voluntary, the Drug and Alcohol Action team work with drug users to help them reduce their dependency on drugs.

As part of the Drug Interventions Programme and the Prolific and Priority Offender Scheme, those who commit crime to fund a drug habit are given help and support alongside sanctions to break the cycle of offending.

Darlington has an Alcohol Strategy designed to deal specifically with the problems of alcohol abuse and to prevent young people becoming dependant upon alcohol.

Darlington CDRP is also working with regional partners to reduce the supply of drugs in the area, to close down premises where drugs are sold, and to catch and convict dealers.
