Do the Local Motion
Darlington is one of three towns selected as a Sustainable Travel Demonstration Town. The project, which is called Do The Local Motion, encourages residents and visitors to travel by bus, bike, or on foot more often. This project will run until 2009. More information on this initiative can be obtained by visiting the Do the Local Motion website
Cycling Demonstration Town
In 2005 Darlington was also one of six towns selected as a Cycling Demonstration Town (Darlington is the only town which is both a sustainable travel demonstration town and a cycling demonstration town).
This means Darlington has been given funding to improve cycling infrastructure between 2005 and 2008.
