Child Care

We arrange real work experience for you at Kids and Co (The Town Hall Nursery) or in Local Nurseries, so that you may gain the skills needed to become qualified and pursue a career in the care of children and babies.

Entry to Employment/ Pre Apprenticeship

To gain a place on this course you will be 16 to 18 years of age and may have achieved lower than average grades at GCSE or for some reason you may not have taken any examinations and have no qualifications. As well as NVQ Level 1, you will be able to work towards Key Skills or Adult Literacy and Numeracy Qualifications.

Apprenticeship

To become an apprentice you will need to have achieved average GCSE results. The manager of your work placement will be involved in your selection and a security check will be required if you are chosen. You will then work towards an NVQ level 2 in Childhood Learning and Development, with Key Skills at level 2, a Technical Certificate at Level 2 and a Paediatric First Aid certificate.

Advanced Apprenticeship

To become an advanced apprentice you need to have achieved good GCSE results. The manager of your work placement will be involved in your selection and a security check will be required if you are chosen. You will then work towards an NVQ Level 3 in Childhood Learning and Development with Key Skills at level 2 and a Technical Certificate at Level 3.
