This post is to serve as the Programme Officer organising and administering cost-effective and efficient examinations into Development Plan Documents (DPD) under the direction of Government appointed Planning Inspector.
We are looking for a person with excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills, who is a good communicator, a confident, accurate and methodical worker and able to work with minimum supervision. A current clean driving license and car available would be advantageous.
The hours of work will depend on workload, and initially, will increase leading up to and including the Public Hearing sessions of the Examination (currently expected in February/March 2011), when there may be periods of full-time working. There may be some opportunity for home working and may be occasional evening working.
Further Examinations are currently programmed for Summer 2012 and Winter 2012/2013. The post is likely initially to cover the period from October 2010 to April 2011, but the period will depend on the actual dates of the first DPD examination, which is yet to be agreed.
If you do not have experience in this type of role, you may be required to attend the Planning Inspectorate’s Programme Officer training course, which will be held in Bristol.

The Register Office is looking to expand its pool of casual registrars and the successful candidates’ duties will principally include the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Please note that it is not anticipated that the performing of ceremonies will be part of the duties of this post.
The main duties of the post will be the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages including interviewing customers, recording the Registration and issuing of appropriate certificates. There will also be some clerical duties associated with the post including the issuing of certificates and covering of reception.
Experience in a customer orientated environment is essential and you should be also have good numeracy and literary skills and be IT literate.
A sensitive and flexible approach to work will be needed being able to work mainly Monday to Friday although some weekends may be involved, at short notice and for periods ranging from one or two days to two weeks at a time.
