Darlington's award winning Summer Market Spectacular, promises to be an exciting day out for all the family this August.
Last year’s event saw thousands of people flock to the biggest market the historic County Durham town had ever seen, winning it the national Market of the Year (Best Attraction) award from the National Association of British Market Authorities’.
More than 300 stalls filled the newly pedestrianised town centre, selling everything from continental products, crafts, eco goods, a pot fair, farmers’ market, as well as the general outdoor market and historic Victorian covered market.
This year the four-day event from Friday August 15 to Monday August 18 will see an even bigger and better range of stalls, including an antiques fair, garden festival, a medieval market and a charity day.
The Spectacular will also include a full programme of street entertainment, magic shows and music, as well as an old fashioned tea dance and fairground rides creating a carnival atmosphere.
The excellent mix of speciality markets, independent retailers as well as big, high street names, makes Darlington a unique place to shop.
Darlington Town Centre Manager, Christine Kavanagh, said: “The Summer Market Spectacular gained national acclaim last year and this year’s event will be even better. It’s a great day out and with the other attractions we have to offer here in Darlington, the town is an ideal destination for day trippers.”
