What is Darlington’s Youth Service?
Darlington’s Youth Service encourages young people to get involved in organised activities and have a say about issues that are important to them.
The Youth Service believes the views of young people are important and should be listened to by those who make decision.
Youth workers aim to have contact with all young people in the Borough, including those who do not join a youth club or take part in organised events.

I am 19. Am I too old to join the Youth Service?
No, The Youth Service is open to young people up to the age of 25. It offers specific opportunities for the older age group, including the chance to take accredited courses in in a wide range of subjects.

Does the Youth Service operate in the rural areas of Darlington?
Yes, The Youth Service works in Hurworth and Bishopton area and also Middleton St George
Is the Youth Service working in my school?
The Training and Accreditation Team run a number of courses in schools across Darlington which lead to recognised qualifications.
Courses include:
- Peer mentoring training (training young people to support other pupils at school)
- Peer education training (training young people about issues that affect them so the can pass on information to others.)
- School council training (training young people to be able to make important decisions)
- Sexual health courses (Awareness of Contraception, sexual health etc)
The Youth Service also delivers one-off sessions on issues such as drugs and alcohol, bullying and racism.
