Care to Learn

Thinking about learning?

Teenage parents can face tough times, after a break from learning it can be hard to get back in to the routine. If you feel ready to return to learning or continue into sixth form after having a child, Care to Learn could be the incentive you need.

If you are under 19 and thinking of starting out or picking up where you left off, Care to Learn may be able to help with your childcare costs.

Securing a Future

Doing a course or training will help to secure the future for you and your family.

It will help you in a number of ways:

  • To develop new skills Improve your chances of getting a job.
  • Mix with other people.
  • Become more independent.
  • Perhaps get new qualifications.

Payment

Care to Learn will pay a maximum of £5,125 per child per year once your application has been accepted. The money will cover payments for your childcare along with the cost of transport to get you to and from your carer. The money will be paid direct to your childcare provider and your transport fees will go straight to the course provider - it’s one less thing for you to worry about.

This will NOT affect your own or your family’s benefits or allowances. You DO NOT have to be on benefits to have your childcare paid.

Do you qualify?

To qualify, you must be:

  • Under 19 and in learning or training.
  • Starting a course in a school, college or as a trainee with a work based learning provider that is publicly funded.
  • Caring for your own child(ren) - Dads also count.
  • Living in England.
  • Using a registered childcare provider.
