Ashleigh & Christian

2008 will sadly see the end of Ashleigh & Christian's term in office as the member and Deputy member of the United Kingdom Youth Parliament for Darlington.

During their two years in office Ash & Christian have been busy locally, regionally and Nationally addressing issues that affect young people from transport, health and Stereotypes.

Ashleigh has already started her level one youth work training with Darlington Youth Services, whilst Christian is busy working with Govemment Office North East looking at issues that affect young people across the North East in his role as young Advocate.

Everyone at Vibe would like to wish Ash & Christian all the very best for the future and thank them for their support and input over the years.

To mark the end of their term in office a special event has been planned at Darlington Football Club on Friday 29th Feb, 7.00pm - 10.00pm, Ashleigh & Christian would like to invite you all as a thank you for supporting them.

The replacements for Ash & Christian will be elected from the 25th Feb until the 2nd March. The Big Count Event will be held on Monday 3rd March 08 at Central Hall Dolphin Centre, 6.30pm - 8.00pm

The United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP) aims to give young people of the UK, between the age of 11 and 18 a voice, which will be heard and listened to by local and national government.

The UKYP has the support of the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat leaders.

The aim of the MYP is to give the young people in Darlington a voice at local and national level. MYP’s will aim to listen and respect the views of young people. They will work closely with the Darlington Youth Assembly to ensure young people’s views are heard throughout the whole town.
