Diploma / Study Programme Referral Form [word document]

Diplomas

Diplomas are offered to 16-18 year olds in Childcare, Health and Social Care, Site Joinery and Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. The course lasts an academic year and allows you to study the different areas of your chosen area, whilst gaining a recognised Level 2 Diploma qualification, which can be used as part of an Apprenticeship or as a standalone qualification. The course involves interactive lessons relevant to employment in your chosen area, as well some short work experience with a local business and the possibility of gaining industry qualifications, such as a CSCS card or First Aid. The course will also enable you to develop your maths and English skills (if required) in order to support your progression.

Progression from this programme would be an Apprenticeship Scheme with Darlington Borough Council Learning & Skills or a Level 3 Diploma.

Ryan Hepper (Site Joinery Diploma Level 2) said, “I have gained new skills and these have developed in joinery as a result of being on the course”

Lewis Harbron (Motor Vehicle Diploma Level 2) said, “ I now have confidence in myself (when fixing cars) and know how to ask for help thanks to my work placement and progression to an Apprenticeship with them.”
