Festive Bank Holidays Refuse and Recycling Changes

Refuse and Recycling collections have returned to normal today (Tuesday 2 January)

We also plan to return tomorrow (Wednesday 3 January) to those areas missed due to bad weather last week (29 and 30 December), including the following:

Elmfield, Hurworth-on-Tees; East Close, Sadberge; Chapel Close, St Andrews Park, Wheeldale Close, Mossbank and Rockwell House; Brafferton, Sadberge back road from Great Burdon to Great Stainton; Lowson Street and Crosby Street back lane; Eastmount Road back lane, Danby Court, Goldsmith Gardens, Leven Gardens, Chapelhope Close and Hargreave Terrace.

Also farms and properties on Highside Road, Stony Bank Lane, Newbiggin Lane, Whitehouse Lane, Corner Bank Lane and Redhouse Lane in the Redworth and Heighington area.

We were also unable to gain access to collect recycling from Church Row flats 35/45 due to parked cars – we will return tomorrow.

We would ask residents to please put out their refuse or recycling, as appropriate, before 7am so it can be collected.

Extra bags/side waste will also be collected this week.

Apologies again for the disruption and thank you for bearing with us.

Recycle your Christmas tree

The Council is not running a Christmas tree recycling scheme this year but you can still take your tree to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Whessoe Road. Alternatively why not ask Darlington Rotary Club to get rid of your tree and help St Teresa’s Hospice? For a small donation to the hospice, volunteers will come and collect your tree.

To book a collection register and pay online at www.darlingtonhospice.org.uk [external link] or call 01325 254321.
