This evidence-based programme for a universal service to  promote optimal health and wellbeing, appropriate for all children and young people – wherever they are – and additional services for those with specific needs and risk factors.

It is delivered by community nurse teams including Health Visitors and School Nurses who provide support and guidance to parents, children and young people and schools regarding public health issues. They also provide brief interventions and health promotion such as breastfeeding and weaning, safety, immunisations, hygiene, post-natal depression smoking emotional health and well-being needs. They also provide support and advice  on well-being,  including the physical and emotional development and other aspects of health needs of children and young people.
