European Parliamentary election

European Parliamentary elections take place every five years.

Darlington is part of the North-East Region, and there are three Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) for this region. The North East electoral region also includes Durham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees and Tyne and Wear.

Dave Smith, the Chief Executive of Sunderland City Council [external link], acts as the Regional Returning Officer, and co-ordinates the election.
