Mowden and Red Hall and Lingfield Ward By-Elections

Mowden Ward By-Election - Thursday, 16th November 2017

On Friday, 29th September 2017, a Notice of Vacancy was published and displayed advising of a casual vacancy in the office of Borough Councillor for the Mowden Ward, following the resignation of Councillor Bill Stenson. A by-election to fill the vacancy can be requested, in writing to the Returning Officer, by two local government electors within the local authority area, and later that day the Returning Officer received a request to hold an election to fill the vacancy accordingly.

Red Hall and Lingfield Ward By-Election - Thursday, 16th November 2017

On Friday, 6th October 2017, a Notice of Vacancy was published and displayed advising of a casual vacancy in the office of Borough Councillor for the Red Hall and Lingfield Ward, following the resignation of Councillor Lynne Haszeldine. A by-election to fill the vacancy can be requested, in writing to the Returning Officer, by two local government electors within the local authority area, and later that day the Returning Officer received a request to hold an election to fill the vacancy accordingly.

Key Dates 

As both elections are scheduled to be held on Thursday, 16th November 2017, the key dates are the same for each election:

Tuesday, 31st October 2017, is the last date to register to vote in these by-elections. If your name is not on the Electoral register by this date you will not be able to vote in this election. If you believe that you are not registered, you can register online (please note that you will need your Date of Birth and National Insurance Number). Alternatively, you can contact the Election Team on 01325 406444.

5pm, Wednesday, 1st November 2017, is the deadline to apply for a Postal Vote or a Postal Proxy Vote, or change or cancel an existing Postal Vote of Postal Proxy Vote, for these elections. Postal Vote Packs will be issued on Monday, 6th November 2017.

5pm, Wednesday, 8th November 2017, is the deadline to apply for a Proxy Vote (in person) for these elections. A Proxy Vote is when you nominate another person to vote on your behalf.
