May half term fun in Darlington

Fun for the whole family will be on offer across Darlington this May half term as venues across the borough play host to a wide range of activities and events.

The fun kicks off on Saturday 18 May in the town centre, where the Healthy Darlington team will be hosting a Go Spike Big Event offering shoppers young and old the chance to have some volleyball fun at Joseph Pease Place. 

There will also be a variety of children’s fairground rides in the Market Square from Monday 30 May until Sunday 5 June while the magic of Alice in Wonderland will be recreated in the Queen Street Shopping Centre on Monday 30 May, 10am-4pm.

For the more creative, there will be two Arts and Crafts Sessions on Wednesday 1 June. The morning session, 10-11.30am will be held at Crown Street Library followed by an afternoon session, 1.30-3pm at Cockerton Library. Call the Learning and Skills team on 01325 405601 to book your place.

The Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum will also host an Arts and Crafts session on Tuesday 31 May, and Family Crafts sessions Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June. All run 1-3pm and are included in the museum’s usual admission price.

The museum will also be offering Family Annual Membership passes at the reduced price of £10, instead of the usual £15, throughout the half term week from Monday 30 May until Sunday 5 June.

The Healthy Darlington team has also put together a packed programme of activities to help you ‘Get Going’ during the half term including Xplorer events at West Park and South Park, athletics, netball and trampolining as well as junior gym, children’s boxercise gymnastics, trigolf and dance.
