Your voice matters. We want you to help shape and improve the services we provide for care leavers in Darlington.

Opportunities to get involved

You will have the chance to attend the Leaving Care Forum each month. You can share your views and be involved in developing and improving services.

You can also take part in the Corporate Parenting Panel. This helps make sure the voices of care leavers are heard at a strategic level.

We offer interview training through the Participation Team. This will give you the skills and confidence to sit on interview panels and help recruit staff within Children’s Services.

Throughout the year, you will be invited to attend a range of celebration events, recognising achievements and bringing care leavers together.

You will receive a LIVE card, which gives you free access to Darlington Borough Council leisure facilities, including the gym and swimming pool.

We will support and encourage you to register to vote, helping you to have your say in local and national elections.

You will have opportunities to be involved in training foster carers, sharing your experiences to help improve care for others.

We will also offer you the chance to shadow senior leaders within Darlington Local Authority.
