Who is this course for?

This course is a short introduction for anyone considering working in the voluntary sector.

If you already work in a voluntary organisation you may wish to further develop your existing skills.

Entry requirements

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification.

You may find it helpful to have already achieved an Entry Level 3 qualification.

What is the curriculum intent of this course?

The course prepares you for a role in a voluntary organisation.

It will prepare you for the level 1 volunteer qualification.

What will the course cover?

The course will cover;

  • exploring volunteering
  • ways to become a volunteer
  • personal standards
  • safeguarding
  • confidentiality

within the volunteering role.

What could I do when I have finished this course?

You could progress onto the Level 1 Volunteering course.

You may decide to complete one of the 21 distance learning courses made available to support your volunteering role.

Where and when will I learn?

This course will take place either in a classroom setting or online via Google Classroom.

What do I need to bring with me?

For classroom based sessions please bring;

  • paper
  • a pen (or a digital device to take notes)
  • a file to store your work.

For online courses you will need access to the internet and an internet enabled device on which you can access Google Classroom.
