Who is this course for?
The course is for anyone who would like to brush up on their reading and writing skills.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
You only the need enthusiasm to learn and develop skills in a friendly, supportive environment.
What is the curriculum intent of this course?
You will develop functional and practical skills in English that you can use in daily life and work.
This course will also support you to progress to further learning.
What will the course cover?
The course will cover;
- spelling rules and techniques
- word types and their uses
- sentence types and writing
- punctuation and grammar.
It is ideal for you if you have children or grandchildren at school and feel that you need a reminder of some of the basics, so that you can help with homework.
It will also be helpful if you want to brush up on your skills and progress on to an English course with a recognised qualification.
What could I do when I have finished this course?
You could take an initial assessment that will determine the level of English at which you are working.
You would then progress on to a functional skills English course at a time that would suit you.
Where and when will I learn?
This course will take place either in a classroom setting or online using Google Classroom.

What do I need to bring with me?
For classroom based sessions please bring;
- a pen (or a digital device to take notes)
- a file to store your work.
For online courses you will need access to the internet and an internet enabled device on which you can access Google Classroom.
